"Her long yellow hair rippled down her shoulders; her gown was green, green as young reeds, shot with silver like beads of dew; and her belt was of gold, shaped like a chain of flag-lilies set with the pale-blue eyes of forget-me-nots... before they could say anything, she sprang lightly up and over the lily-bowls, and ran laughing towards them; and as she ran her gown rustled softly like the wind in the flowering borders of a river.
'Come, dear folk!' she said, taking Frodo by the hand. 'Laugh and be merry! I am Goldberry, Daughter of the River.'"
~Tolkien, The Fellowship of the Ring
Yeah, Tom and Goldberry are always left out of renditions of the books, 'cause they're not central to the plot... but I like them anyway... and I thought Goldberry could best be portrayed in the Art Nouveau style, which I've always loved and never tried.
Never was much of a Tolkien fan.... and I find it odd that he'd name one of his characters Goldberry of all things.... but these facts don't detract from your artwork!
Very nice...I love the style you did this in. I've haven't read LOTR, so I don't know the character, but your drawing represents the description in that quote really well.
Your Lord of the Rings illustrations are truly stunning. And I love Goldberry! No one ever draws Goldberry! Hooray!

yeah, i was always sad that Tom and Goldberry never got enough attention in renditions of the books. I mean, I know they're not important to advancing the plot, but... they're so GREAT.

I'd like to say something clever and eloquent in reply, but my brain is out to lunch. I apologize.
